Amethyst is a member of the Quartz crystal family and has a trigonal crystal system. Its color ranges from pale to deep purple and is derived from trace amounts of iron and aluminum. This beautiful stone can be found in various locations such as Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Europe and the USA. They can form in a variety of quartz configurations, including clusters and geodes.


This stone has such a deep history and is still as popular today as it was in the past. Amethyst was used in Europe as early as 25,000 B.C. and was prized for its beauty and energy. People in Ancient Egypt used Amethyst in their jewelry, making beads and amulets out of the stone.
